George Fritz Hoffschmidt

George Fritz Hoffschmidt, 95, of Janesville passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 surrounded by his family at HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. George was born on January 18, 1916 in Antigo, WI, the son of Henry and Mina (Kupper) Hoffschmidt. He graduated from high school in 1934 in Glidden, WI, and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in northern Wisconsin. He married Bernice Iversen on December 3, 1938. George served with the US Army from 1945-1946 and was stationed in Germany. He was employed as a tool design engineer by the Parker Pen Company for over 40 years and was a member of the Parker 51 Club.

Survivors include one sister, Janice Schroeder, of Antigo, WI; one son, Gerald (Karen) Hoffschmidt of Flossmoor, IL; two granddaughters, Sara Hoffschmidt of Cambridge, MA and Kristin (Angel) Hoffschmidt of Madison, WI; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, on March 31, 1996; an infant son, Gregg;, and siblings Denby, Ada, Anita, and Adella.

The family extends a special thanks to all of the compassionate and loving caregivers who assisted George in his home and to the caring staff of HospiceCare. Memorials may be made to the Rock County Humane Society and HospiceCare.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a remembrance at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville.
